Regardless of your orientation to the crop circle phenomenon, they present themselves as beautiful, awe-inspiring and mysterious. Throughout history there have been such phenomena, from time to time. The indigenous people called them 'sacred grains' and were thought to be messages from the gods. In modern times they were first noticed in the 1970's as simple circle designs that suddenly appeared in random locations. But, over the years they have become increasingly more complex, artful, mysterious and numerous. Author Freddy Silva conservatively proposes that about 20% of the pictograms are genuine based on his rigorous criteria. There is still a good deal of controversy as to their origin, method of construction, purpose and message. While many of them may very well be faked (albeit artfully done counterfeits), as decoys for the authentic ones, there are a good percentage that are considered to be genuine. By genuine, I mean those that have been made through non-human origin and intervention, whatever that origin is.
1) The genuine ones are noted to be the product of high heat delivered in an instantaneous pulse. This energy tends to leave the growth nodes of the grain stalks unnaturally expanded by an average of 40% compared to the grains outside the circle.
2) The stalks are also bent to a 90 degree angle, just above the ground. The 'bend' is a radial, rounded bend as compared to a creased or broken bend when done by mechanical means.
3) As well, in the genuine circles the grains are woven or swirled as they are laid down and not simply pushed over in unison, as a rope or mechanical device would necessarily do.
4) Electrical devices such as batteries, cameras and watches often cease to function within the authentic formations.
5) Ultra-sonic vibrations have been recorded in the circles & according to analysis by NASA are unnatural, in 5.2 khz range.
6) Chromasome & DNA samples in the circles are changed by the high energy, causing stunted growth from the circle seeds.

The formation of some of these phenomena have occured within the timespan of a few minutes. Many have been witnessed in conjunction with bright lights in the sky and/or floating orbs of light just above the fields. It would seem that we are not alone.

Regarding the size of these pictograms, the little dark spots noticed in some of them are people standing within the formations, these are typically between 150-300 ft across. Though, in 1996, a Triple Julia formation (4th row up, right) was over 1000 ft. in length, with 194 circles.

Now, some may think that the above crop formations can be made by a bunch of college pranksters in the middle of the night with ropes, boards and flashlights. And while some are man-made many are not, the differences often being quite obvious upon closer examination. Opinions are like belly buttons, everybody has one. And everyone is entitled to their opinion, but why not make it an informed opinion?
